Women Shape Music is all about making a difference
When designing this project, I wanted to break down stereotypes of what women can achieve, and celebrate women in our music industry, closing gender gaps and making a more equal and inclusive space.

Our aims and purpose
The aim of this project is to inspire girls and young women to pursue careers in the music industry by providing strong female role models. The project also highlights the incredible work being done by women in the music industry every day.

What has the project achieved?
So far, the project has taken female speakers, excelling in their own field within the music industry, into high schools in Sheffield. The sessions were structured around their careers, the routes they have taken into those careers, and navigating the music industry as a woman.
These sessions were recorded, and, along with other videos sent from women across the country, have been uploaded to this website to create a digital resource for everyone to access.

Support the project has received
The project has received the invaluable support of Sheffield Music Hub, who provided advice and contacts in the initial setting up of the sessions. Their ongoing support has allowed the project to flourish, and we are very grateful to the whole team.
We have also had overwhelming support from the schools that we have visited. Without their trust and enthusiasm for the project, it would not have been possible.
We are also incredibly grateful to the amazing speakers who volunteered their time to the project. They have inspired the next generation and we have been overwhelmed by their enthusiasm.
The future of the project
We have high hopes for this project going forward! We hope to reach even more young people by developing this digital resource further, and involving more and more professional women.
We also hope to expand the project, involving in-person workshops, mentoring, and more detailed resources to allow this initiative to flourish.
